This is the underside of the road bridge a stone's throw away from Rob's apartment. I'd never really noticed those big chains before, but once I started looking, I found them under most bridges. I don't know why they're there, but I guess it has something to do with earthquakes. Why else would you chain your bridge deck to the bridge footing? I can't imagine them walking away without help from an earthquake....
