It's quite common to find a row of aloe plants in these neighborhood gardens. We Americans don't really think of aloe as something you eat or drink, but Japanese apparently do. I've had aloe juice a few times now. It's quite good. I don't know if it's mixed with some other juice (like apple or pear), but it is very good.
