We're not in Tokyo anymore. There are many more houses than apartment buildings in Sakaiminato. We're walking down the train line just one stop, the one almost next door to Rob's apartment. We're closer to the edge of town, so this is a bigger garden than most, but even down near the harbor, there were 1- or 2-house-sized garden plots in the residential neighborhoods. Small tunnels of clear plastic are used to keep some of the more fragile plants warm at night. (17/28) |
