We're walking along the beach, closer to the city of Yonago than to Sakaiminato City. The sun is starting to set, giving the light a nice bit of warmth. This shows another example of a big concrete project to protect the land from erosion. I don't know if it works or not, but it's certainly a common sight in Japan. Between the beach and Highway 147 (which will lead us a bit further to a bookstore in Yonago), a long strip of pine forest is growing. It's dense enough that most of the roadway noise is gone. The skinny A-shaped structure 100 yards away is a wind break to protect seedlings.
