I may not be in Tokyo anymore, but I'm certainly still in Japan. The beverage vending machines are everywhere, even here in Sakaiminato City. Tea, coffee, and juices are most popular, though there are a few soft drinks (depending on the machine). Candy is rarely sold in vendo machines: if it is, it's packaged in a can-shaped package and is delivered to you cold: it's refrigerated along with the other drinks.
