We stop at a roadside stand to buy a snack. These look like colored marshmallows, but they're much stickier than marshmallow. Rob and I split a green one. It has a mild tea or grass flavor. Very, very chewey. On the flight back home, a Korean American lady was impressed that I'd eaten one of them. "Oh, Americans think they're much too sticky. They act like they're practically choking trying to chew them. I'm very impressed that you managed to eat one." I didn't think they were quite that sticky, but they did provide a good amount of chewing exercise.

The vendor spread three different kinds of topping on our stick, one on each blob of sticky green yum. One was bean paste (frequently found in Japanese pastry), one was a slightly salty miso (a very nice contrast to the sticky/sweet), and I forget the third. The sauces are in bowls on the table behind the brazier, and they're painted onto the sticks with a brush.
