This is the big room in the site's original tea house. Unlike most tatami mats that you'd find in a Japanese house or inn, the borders of the tea room tatami are plain black. Everything in a tea house is simple, just as the tea ceremony itself is simple.
Water is heated outside the house and kept warm by charcoal under the pot shown here. (23/31)
