As I wandered around Sakaiminato City, I found only two buildings like these. Most of the residential areas have single family houses. There are a few apartment buildings, like Rob's, but they're definitely in the minority. (And definitely not like many parts of Tokyo.) This is a very new set of townhouses. It seems to me that this style of building is very new to Japan ... or at least very uncommon. (26/26)
