This is the roofline of one of the nicer houses that I'd walked across. Notice the fire-warding fish. Louise tells me that she'd read in the Matsue Castle brochure that the spirits are actually half fish and half tiger. I've only ever seen the tails sticking out of a roof, so I cannot comment on the tiger business. (9/26)
